What it does:
- Cleans teeth and gums: The EMS Airflow system uses a combination of air, warm water, and a gentle powder (typically a special air-polishing powder, like erythritol) to clean your teeth and gums. It’s like a super-powered cleaning tool that’s more effective than regular brushing or even traditional cleaning tools.
- Guided Bacterial Reduction: This system helps remove bacteria that can cause gum disease, particularly in areas where conventional cleaning methods might be less effective, such as in deep periodontal pockets. By getting rid of harmful bacteria, yeast, viruses, and plaque, it helps keep your gums healthier, reduces inflammation, and can even help improve your breath.
- Gentle and comfortable: Unlike some dental cleaning methods that can be uncomfortable or harsh, the EMS Airflow system is minimally invasive and gentle on your gums and teeth. It’s less painful for people with sensitive gums, making it a more comfortable option during cleaning.
- Better results for gum disease: If you have gum disease (like gingivitis or periodontitis), this system can help clear away the harmful bacteria that cause it, speeding up the healing process and making the treatment more effective.
- Safe for dental work: It’s also safe to use around dental implants or other dental work, making sure they stay clean and free from bacteria without causing damage.
Why it’s good for you:
- Better cleaning: It helps your dentist clean your teeth and gums more thoroughly, especially in places that are hard to reach.
- Helps your gums heal: If you have gum disease, it helps reduce the bacteria causing the problem, promoting healing.
- Comfortable: It’s much more comfortable than some traditional methods, making your visit to the dentist easier.
In short, the EMS AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master is a modern and effective tool that helps dentists clean your teeth and gums better, especially when fighting bacteria that can cause gum disease. It’s gentle, fast, and makes the whole process more comfortable for patients.
The Process:
- Disclosure
Your dental hygienist will apply a harmless colored dye to your teeth to stain bacteria and show plaque areas. - Presentation and Instruction
Your hygienist will show you the results and demonstrate how to care for your teeth to reduce plaque build-up. This helps identify areas that need more attention when cleaning your teeth. - AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master
The hygienist will use the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master to remove the stained dye, plaque, and surface stains (e.g., from tea, coffee, red wine, or tobacco). The handpiece doesn’t touch your teeth, but you may feel a light sensation from air, water, and powder. - Calculus Removal
The AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master does not remove hard calculus deposits, so your hygienist will use manual or ultrasonic scalers. The use of AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master often reduces the time needed with scalers.
